Whale Tail Brings the Smack-Down to the Cheers of the Whale Watching Tours

I dig my tail. The rest isn't awesome. I dig this tail. I left some white around this time. Certainly easier for me to control where the color goes with a carbon pencil than a brush dripping with watercolor. Whale tail. Every time I think it... I know. Panties! I'm pathetic. Panties! Panties! Panties! Saying something three times doesn't make it so, just ask Bloody Mary.

MONTEREY, CALIFORNIA. April 18, 2026 (ABF Newswire) Whale watching tours off the coast of Monterey this afternoon were welcomed by a migrating pod of Humpback whales with one matriarch the star of the show. While enjoying the show from a safe distance, the crowds were shocked to see a couple of personal watercraft launch off a passing yacht and start zig-zagging in between the gentle giants. The reckless display was put to an end by a large female tail that breached the surface.

An excited Brad Foxly, who was present during a 6th-grade class field trip, screamed an elated "That was fucking awesome!" (Brad's teacher, Ms. Everette, shook her head disapprovingly at the cuss). And then he followed in hurried, embarassed kid speak to describe what happened, "then this giant tail came out of the water and BAM! smacked that one jet ski. Then the other guy fell off his and sank. And that's pretty much what happened."

"Sorry Ms. Everette," he threw in.

The bigger, fourth version is done with a black carbon pencil. All versions applied with a water brush to produce a watercolor style wash.

Yeah, it's fun geeking out with different inks and media. Need to remember to actually practice. It is cool how the colors change between wet and dry. And frustrating. In more ways than one, right? Frustrating because I'm not sure what the final color will be and frustrating that I should wait. Patience shmatience. I'm smart for taking notes of what colors used. I'd forget. Yay me.

"I got it on video," Brad's friend, Joseph Langly chimed in. "It's got so many likes already."

"It's not unheard of for whales to disrupt passing craft," commented Shelly Waterford, one of the tour guides present this afternoon. "The Killer Whales off the coast of Spain, for instance, that have been attacking sea craft. Such wonderful creatures, whales."

Only one of the bodies was recovered, a male who suffered a fractured neck. His life vest made pickup easy. The other man's body has yet to be recovered. Investigators surmise an improperly secured life vest detached and, when thrown from the watercraft, the man must have inhaled water and drowned.

The two were a father and son on a celebratory trip on their yacht, per the vessel's pilot, Captain Merrill Stubing. The duo recently orchestrated a media purchase that put them in control of television stations in 90 markets, about 170 million viewers, across the United States. One of their first executions was to replace the news desk editorial boards of these stations with executives from the family's political consulting arm to boost positive coverage for the family's personal and friends' business ventures.
